Today is the last day to back Cheapass Games in Black and White! An upcoming book by James Ernest covering the early days and titles of Cheapass Games, Cheapass Games in Black and White includes design notes, game rules, fun anecdotes, and more. You can order the book in a digital or hardback format. A special Collector’s Pack including both the e-book, hardback, and a limited edition bookplate signed by James is also available.
Two excerpts from the books—the sections discussing Kill Doctor Lucky and Huzzah!—are available from the campaign page. Take a peek at a page from Doctor Lucky’s original production diary, and learn about James’s colored past as a Ren Faire entertainer. Both excerpts can be found from the Kickstarter campaign page.
To celebrate the successful conclusion of the campaign, we will be streaming from MOX Boarding House in Bellevue, WA from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM Pacific/9:00 PM-10:00 PM Eastern. During this time, you can join us on Facebook and ask James about game design, juggling, and more. We’ll see you there!
Over the course of the campaign, thirty games from the black-and-white days of Cheapass Games have been released as free print-and-plays. We’re pleased to offer these games just as they originally appeared, errors and all, with the exception of some redacted and outdated contact information. Play fan favorites like Devil Bunny Hates the Earth, Enemy Chocolatier, and The Great Brain Robbery, brought forth from our dusty digital archives for your enjoyment.
In addition to these games, both Chief Herman packs will be published as free print-and-plays. Chief Herman’s Holiday Fun Pack and Chief Herman’s Next Big Thing were booklets of over two dozen games each. (This means our free game library will contain over 80 games!) Both Chief Herman packs will be available sometime during the first half of May. This was made possible by over 250 fans who shared the Cheapass Games in Black and White campaign on Twitter and Facebook. Thank you for your support!
