Deadwood is now available as a full-fledged game!

Lights. Camera. Fall off the roof.

Welcome to Deadwood Studios, home of the million-movie month. You’re a bit actor with a simple dream. The dream of getting paid. You and your cohorts will spend the next four days dressing up as cowboys, working on terrible films, and pretending you can act.

So strap on your chaps and mosey up to the roof. Your line is “Aaaiiigggghh!”

Deadwood is a fast-paced board game about actors, acting, and the thrill-filled life of a wandering bit player. It’s best with 2 to 6 players, but still decent with 7 or 8. Play time is about 60 minutes.

Players begin as lowly bit actors, and spend their days roaming the Deadwood backlot in search of acting jobs. As you act, you earn money and credit, and you can turn those into higher rank, which in turn earns more money and credits. Manage your time and your resources well, and you’ll be the best actor on the backlot!

Here are the files you will need to produce your own copy of this game:

Along with printing these files, you will need to provide the following spare parts:

  • A distinct 6-sided die for each player’s marker
  • Several more 6-sided dice for rolling
  • Money in denominations of 1 to 50
  • Other bills or chips to represent 1 and 5 credits
  • About 40 penny-sized counters, such as pennies.

Deadwood was the first major revamp of a classic Cheapass board game. The original was nominated for an Origins Award for Best Abstract Board Game of 1999. in 2010 and 2011 it went through 8 months of intense redesign, resulting in a streamlined and lovely game that you will treasure for always.

The Deadwood badge features a determined-looking actor sits atop a fake horse on wheels in front of a screen depicting clouds and sky.
